CBSE Class 10 Science 2017 · Paper 31/3 · Question 5
You being an environmentalist are interested in contributing towards the conservation of natural resources. List four activities that you can do on your own.
Answer
Switch off unused appliances, save water, reuse things, and segregate household waste for recycling.
Four activities that one can do on one's own (other such personal actions are equally correct):
1. Switch off lights, fans and other appliances when they are not in use, to save electricity.
2. Save water: repair leaking taps and turn the tap off while brushing the teeth.
3. Reuse things instead of throwing them away: write on both sides of paper, reuse envelopes, and use empty jam or pickle bottles for storage.
4. Segregate household waste so that paper, plastic, glass and metal can be sent for recycling.
(Walking, cycling or using public transport for short trips, to save petrol and diesel, is another such activity.)
