CBSE Class 10 Science 2019 · Paper 31/1/3 · Question 7
List three advantages each of :
- (i)exploiting resources with short term aims, and
- (ii)using a long term perspective in managing our natural resources.
Answer
Short-term aims give quick profit, progress and industrialisation; a long-term view keeps resources for the future, gives lasting development and conserves the environment.
(i) Short term aims: Immediate benefit and quick profit, though to a few people; progress of science and technology for the development of the country; rapid urbanisation and industrialisation of an area.
(ii) Long term perspective: Resources remain available for future generations (sustainable development); a lasting contribution to socio-economic development, shared by more people; the quality of the environment is conserved.
