An object is placed at a distance of 30 cm from a concave lens of focal length 15 cm. List four characteristics (nature, position, etc.) of the image formed by the lens.
Answer
The image is virtual, erect, diminished to one-third the size, and formed 10 cm from the lens on the object's side.
(1) Nature: virtual, formed on the same side of the lens as the object ( cm).
(2) Orientation: erect, since is positive.
(3) Size: diminished, one third the size of the object.
(4) Position: cm from the optical centre on the object's side, between the optical centre and the focus .
