State the common characteristic of the following elements :
Boron, Silicon, Germanium and Arsenic
Answer
They are all metalloids, showing some properties of metals and some of non-metals.
They are all metalloids (semi-metals): each shows some properties of metals and some properties of non-metals. In the Modern Periodic Table all four lie along the zig-zag line that separates the metals from the non-metals.
