Answer
Wildlife is all undomesticated organisms living naturally in their habitats; it keeps the ecological balance and gives products, genes and income.
Wildlife means all the plants, animals and other organisms that live and reproduce naturally in their habitats (forests, grasslands, rivers, lakes, seas) and are not domesticated or cultivated by humans.
It is important for us because:
(i) It maintains the ecological balance: wild species are linked in food chains and food webs and keep one another’s numbers in check.
(ii) It gives us useful products such as timber, fruits, honey, lac, resins and medicines.
(iii) It is a store of biodiversity, including genes that can be used to improve crops and livestock.
(iv) It supports tourism and livelihoods and has aesthetic and cultural value.
