CBSE Class 10 Science 2019 · Paper 31/1/1 · Question 5
Define the term power of accommodation. Write the modification in the curvature of the eye lens which enables us to see the nearby objects clearly ?
Answer
It is the eye lens's ability to adjust its focal length; for near objects its curvature increases and it becomes thicker.
Power of accommodation is the ability of the eye lens to adjust its focal length. To see nearby objects clearly, the ciliary muscles contract, the curvature of the eye lens increases (the lens becomes thicker), and its focal length decreases, so the image still forms on the retina.
