Carbon and its Compounds 1 mark Easy
How are covalent bonds formed ?

Answer

A covalent bond forms when two atoms share a pair (or pairs) of electrons.

Covalent bonds are formed by the sharing of a pair (or pairs) of electrons between two atoms. The shared pair is attracted by both nuclei and counts towards the outer shell of each atom, so both atoms attain a stable, completely filled outer shell without any electron being transferred.
