CBSE Class 10 Science 2018 · Paper 31/1/C · Question 27
You have following material :
An ammeter (0-1A), a voltmeter (0-3V), a resistor of , a key, a rheostat, a battery of 3 V and seven connecting wires.
Using this material draw a labelled circuit diagram to study the dependence of potential difference () across a resistor on the current () passing through it.
Answer
Battery, key, ammeter, resistor and rheostat are in series; the voltmeter is connected in parallel across the resistor.
The labelled circuit diagram is the figure at step 3:
(i) The battery (3 V), the key K, the ammeter A (0–1 A), the resistor R () and the rheostat Rh are connected in series in one loop.
(ii) The voltmeter V (0–3 V) is connected in parallel across the resistor R.
(iii) The + terminals of the ammeter and the voltmeter are joined towards the + terminal of the battery.
(iv) The seven wires: battery to key, key to ammeter, ammeter to R, R to rheostat, rheostat to battery, and two from the ends of R to the voltmeter.
The rheostat is moved to change the current , and across R is noted for each value of .
