What is the other name of ‘tissue fluid’ ? Write its two functions.
Answer
Tissue fluid is also called lymph; it carries absorbed fat from the intestine and drains excess fluid into the blood.
The other name of tissue fluid is lymph. It forms when some plasma, proteins and blood cells escape through the pores in the walls of capillaries into the spaces between the cells. Two functions: (i) Lymph carries digested and absorbed fat from the intestine. (ii) It drains excess fluid from the intercellular (extracellular) spaces back into the blood, through lymph vessels that open into larger veins.
