How is acetic acid prepared from ethanol ?
Answer
Ethanol is oxidised to acetic acid by heating with alkaline potassium permanganate or acidified potassium dichromate.
By oxidising ethanol: ethanol is heated with alkaline potassium permanganate (or with acidified potassium dichromate), which converts it into acetic (ethanoic) acid. , where is oxygen supplied by the oxidising agent.
