CBSE Class 10 Science 2019 · Paper 31/2/1 · Question 13(b)
A 10 cm tall object is placed perpendicular to the principal axis of a convex lens of focal length 12 cm. The distance of the object from the lens is 18 cm. Find the nature, position and size of the image formed.
Answer
The image is real and inverted, 36 cm from the lens on the other side, and 20 cm tall (twice the object).
Position: cm, so the image is formed cm from the lens on the side opposite to the object (beyond ).
Nature: real and inverted ( is positive and ), and magnified.
Size: cm, so the image is cm tall, twice the height of the object, and inverted.
