CBSE Class 10 Science 2019 · Paper 31/1/1/C · Question 26
- (a)In a given ammeter, a student saw that needle indicates division in ammeter while performing an experiment to verify Ohm’s law. If ammeter has 10 divisions between 0 to 0.5 A, then what is the ammeter reading corresponding to division ?
- (b)How do you connect an ammeter and a voltmeter in an electric circuit ?
Answer
The reading is 0.6 A; the ammeter is connected in series and the voltmeter in parallel with the resistor.
(a) Value of one division (least count) A. Reading at the division A A.
(b) The ammeter is connected in series with the resistor (the component in the circuit), so that the whole current passes through it. The voltmeter is connected in parallel across the resistor, between the two points whose potential difference is to be measured. In both, the + terminal is connected to the side of the + terminal of the battery.
