Light - Reflection and Refraction 3 marks Medium
A 3 cm tall object is placed 18 cm in front of a concave mirror of focal length 12 cm. At what distance from the mirror should a screen be placed to see a sharp image of the object on the screen. Also calculate the height of the image formed.

Answer

The screen should be 36 cm in front of the mirror; the image is 6 cm tall (inverted, real, twice the size).

The screen should be placed cm in front of the mirror, on the same side as the object ( cm). The height of the image is cm ( cm); the minus sign shows that the image is inverted. The image is real and magnified, twice the height of the object ().
